Emmerson Mnangagwa The Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front leader Emmerson Mnangagwa won the 2nd term with a vote of 52.6% in favour of his closest rival, Nelson Chamisa of the Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC). This is significant as the election is happening six years after ruler Robert Mugabe due to a military coup.

Born on 15 September 1942 in Shabani, Southern Rhodesia, to a large Shona family, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is a member of the ZANU–PF (Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front)& was a close associate of former President Robert Mugabe. He had occupied various key ministerial positions and served as Zimbabwe’s President on 24 November 2017 & was the leader of the “Crocodile Gang”, a group that attacked white-owned farms in the Eastern Highlands.
